Viesti Kirjoittaja amuse » 28.12.2006 01.08

Hi guys of FCMA,
It been sometime since i posted here and now i have something to show you. 8)

Remember, this started as a normal NB kit. I thought of doing like a rice rocket but then i changed my mind when i worked on my Xanavi R34. My plan was to make a Super GT MX-5 now.
The progress thread : http://www.spc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3011

Here is a summary:
Custom Body work
Enlarged wheel wells and lowered
Hard top glued on and built "mooncraft top"

Body sprayed Gun metal and cleared with Mr.Hobby
Full carbon front end
Carbon front spoiler
Scratchbuilt flat under body with diffuser
Ings GT-wing
Wheels+tires from the Falken Skyline R32
Brakes taken from Rx-7 and enlarged and painted carbon ceramic
Holes frilled in the front
Decals from various kits
Exhaust tip from Revell
Carbon side diffusers
Scratchbuilt Full insert thingy

Full carbon dash
Race prepped interior w/ roll cage
Seat taken from Beetle Cup car.
Steering wheel from Xanavi R34 kit.
Fire extinguiser and pump casted from various kits

And that pretty much it!

The ORIGINAL kit.

Good work! I've been looking at your progress in the other forum, and in my opinion that's been quite an interesting project indeed. I especially like those body modifications which you've done very nicely. But I think you should have attached the rear wing some other way to the body. The way it is attached now doesn't look realistic. But everything else looks nice. I like it.

Holy Christ what a great car! If you haven't told that it's MX-5 I might had trouble recognising it :) I bet you had done a lot of work and spent lots of time with this model. Only thing i dont like in this car is the wingstays (or whatever they're called), because it is clearly visible that there is two of them. Maybe if you remove the upper stays and bend the lowers a bit to match to the wing, it becomes more realistic and better looking. But anyway, great work!

I've seen this one before on another forum and I think it is a great model! Modifications have been done nicely and I know how hard it is to get it look that smooth. Only thing I miss is the lack of headlight details. I know that Super GT cars don't have them in all the races, but it would be cool if it would have just black stickers on those places...or not, just a thought.

I just noticed the wing columns and I agree with the others, they should be different. Why not make them just out of single strips of styrene, so you can make them look the way you want it and have the realistic look also?

This is what i wrote before:
the rear wing stands, they might be a little crazy and not realistic but i just didnt know what else to do at that time. ( i also got the idea of the wing stands from a Tuned R33 which had that kind of setup. Stock R33 wing base with new wing stands attached to it.) Plus, i wasnt aiming for realism on this project so ididnt pay much attention to aerodynamics.

Just think of it as a concept or prototype.
